Jerusalem, Israel
International Christian
broadcasters, Earl Cox and Ben Kinchlow, have been asked to spearhead an
emergency campaign in America and around the world to provide Israeli
citizens with protection from ongoing rocket attacks by terrorists. Cox
and Kinchlow have joined forces with the founders of Operation LifeShield,
a non-profit organization headquartered in Israel and the U.S. They are
asking Christians and Jews around the world to assist in immediately
placing transportable bomb shelters in the most frequently targeted
areas. "There is no time for personal agendas," Cox said. "We
must all pull together for the benefit of the people of Israel."
Shep Alster, one of the founders of Operation LifeShield, said he deeply
appreciates the faith and confidence Cox and Kinchlow have placed in
Operation LifeShield so much so that they are willing to set aside their
personal lives for many months to help this project move forward.
Cox and Kinchlow, co-hosts of
Front Page Jerusalem Global Radio Network, produced by the International
Christian Embassy Jerusalem, are calling on Christians and Jews worldwide
to come to the aid of the Jewish people. Cox states, “God is moving in a
powerful way, opening great doors for us to, as the Bible says, ‘Comfort ye, comfort ye, My
people.’ With growing existential threats against Israel, we
as Christians can come to the aid of our Jewish brothers and sisters in a
practical way.”
This
lifesaving project is highlighted by the participation of both Jewish and
Christian congregations. According to Cox, Christian
churches, Jewish synagogues, and other groups throughout the USA are
mobilizing to help with this emergency project. Every church, synagogue,
and caring individual can be a part of this great effort.
“In modern times there has never been a more tangible
way for Christians and Jews to demonstrate support for the people of
Israel than to provide portable bomb shelters where they can seek safety
and comfort,” says Cox.
In May,
Cox spoke at a press conference called by Operation LifeShield at Teddy
Stadium in Jerusalem. “For the last eight years, I have done all in my
power, with God’s help, to demonstrate my commitment to the Jewish people.
Operation Life Shield is my most important effort yet because it will save
the lives of God’s chosen people while their enemies devise yet more ways
to harm them. Christians will not be silent and will not be
idle.”
Kinchlow noted that mayors
across Israel are anxious to get the bomb shelters in their respective
areas before the summer ends and terrorist activities are expected to
escalate, adding, “Time is of the essence. We must act now; lives are at
stake.” The bomb shelters are approved by the Israeli Defense Force and
can hold up to 30 people comfortably.
At the
entrance of each shelter, a plaque will be affixed listing the churches,
synagogues, and individuals sponsoring that particular shelter. These
plaques will make it clear that Christians and Jews alike are working
together to provide these life saving measures for Israelis under siege by
terrorists. Every church or synagogue that sponsors one of the bomb
shelters will be invited to Israel to view the placement of the shelter.
Cost is $18,000 for bus stop units and $38,000 for units placed at
playgrounds, schools, and shopping centers. Donations are tax
deductible. The first shelters have already been
received by grateful citizens in Carmiel in the North and in Sderot in the
South near the Gaza border, where rockets launched by Hamas strike almost
daily.
